The Yido Sayo Cafe, unlike the existing first branch ‘Yido Coffee,’ which operates as a space for children, is designed to provide a space for relaxation and a break from reality in Sejong City. The theme is unified under “人(human).” reflecting the characteristics of the planned administrative district of Sejong City. The design philosophy aims to offer a time to step away from daily life. empty one’s thoughts, and reflect on oneself. delivering an impressive experience throug ‘refinement’ and ‘experience.’ To achieve this. ‘fog’ is used as a device for emotional transference. The exterior design employs a simple rectangular shape and restrained finishing materials, utilizing grass, concrete, and lightweight steel ( m-bar). The metallic exterior reacts to changes in nature, and the stone symbolizes introspection into various aspects of the self.

The interior design features a long rectangular shape with a central courtuard, ciewed from seats arranged around the walls with high, angled backrests. Through observing the central vegetation and open ceiling, the changes in nature can be appreciated, and the fog facilitates emotional engagement and self-reflection. The restrained materials and tones naturally guide one’s gaze toward the sky. The interaction between the interior and exterior includes robust tress and seasonal vegetation changes in the central courtyard, with and LED dispaly conveying the passage of time and the message of life’s cycle. The inhibition of mobile phone signals and the lack of outlets for electronic devices further encourage contemplation.

The primary message delicered is and allegorical one about the cycle and change of life through the changes in nature and the passage of time, providing a moment to face oneself through the fog, and offering a simple yet impactful spatial experience through refined design.

Unlike the visually saturated city, we wanted people to experience a moment of emptiness and purification as they encounter the simple forms and textures of this place from the outside.

The Architecture's exterior is highly restrained in both form and material, and the structure without openings (windows) offers no hint of what lies within.

The first thing you see after parking in the parking lot is a solitary standing stone.

The stone standing here is reflected in the mirror-like metal wall, making it appear as multiple stones.

I thought of this stone as a person, and the multiple reflections on each mirrored wall represent reflections on various aspects of myself.

The architecture's exterior is highly restrained in form and material, with only concrete and the exterior material(we used M-bar a lightweight steel frame material typically used for ceilings).

The lower part of the building, which is proportioned to appear as if it is supporting the structure, also has a concrete texture. The fence, made of the same concrete, features a rough texture.

On the green grass, the concrete and metal exterior features simple forms and textures. The metal cladding, in particular, reflects the surrounding environment effectively.

Due to the reflective nature of the material, the building fully embraces the changes in the sky, such as the variations of light throughout the day, cloudiness, clear skies, and sunsets.

The grass and circular sand area on the site are designed as features for families. The idea is for children to play in the sand while parents (mom and dad) sit on the concrete benches, watching their children.

Instead of attaching a sign to the building's exterior, we created and installed a sign designed to match the refined aesthetic of the setting.

The path leading to the entrance has slopes on both the left and right sides. The gradual incline of these paths lengthens the walk to the entrance, encouraging a reflective and contemplative approach.
